It all began in 1996 when a college roommate who worked in radio came home with free CDs, shirts and swag! Megan wondered how she could get in on some of that free stuff herself, and landed a promotion internship with 96.5 Young Country. From fairs to car dealerships and product sampling, Megan got hands on experience with promotions and marketing.
After graduating with an English Degree from the University of Washington she landed the Promotion and Marketing Director position with Young Country, loving the country music scene that reminded her of growing up in Mount Vernon.
After a few years in promotions, she then spent the next 12 years in advertising sales at KISS FM. These were the years that kept Megan current with the trends, singing songs at her desk of all the one-hit-wonders. She then traded in Brittney Spears for Tim McGraw and landed at KKWF, The Wolf working on local, national, agency and digital campaigns.
With the creation of Reed Rouleau Marketing & Media, Megan now utilizes her marketing knowledge for clients in all different capacities and enjoys being considered as part of her clients’ marketing teams.
Denise’s 20 years in radio started one cold, dark, rainy night in December of ’86. In a Queen Anne convenience store next to the KJR studios to buy breath mints, she was approached by Seattle’s legendary Wayne Cody (RIP, Wayne). With ice cream sandwich in hand (remember, it was December), Wayne asked “do you work around here?”. “Not yet”, she quipped, as her interview was to take place in 10 minutes. Let’s just call it what it is – fate.
Soon Denise would be sharpening her teeth in KJR-AM and FM’s Programming Department. From pulling spots (back in the day when spots were produced on 8-track type cartridges), writing promos, running daily logs, working promotions with the jocks, getting hollered at by Gary Lockwood (aka Lock Jock), serving up coffee – you name it, she did it. Three years of fun and soon KJR-AM flipped to all-sports – one of Denise’s passions – and soon she made her way on to the sales team where she grabbed a phone book and ran with it!
Fast forward to 1994…another passion, Garth Brooks. Two passions – sports and country music, two jobs…it was all in the cards. In August of that year, Denise joined the team at KMPS-FM, where she worked on various local, agency, digital and national campaigns in an effort to target the country consumer. Overly ecstatic to find that she could listen to country music at any hour of the day, and belt out a tune or two with reckless abandon, she remained part of the KMPS team for nearly 12 years.
Since 2005 she has owned a marketing agency, heading up a myriad of tasks for clients including, but not limited to, buying local and national radio, digital components, television, creating collateral materials, web design, event marketing, etc.
Staying true to her passions, Garth Brooks has been upset by Blake Shelton and Keith Urban, and she can’t wait for the day when she can pull out her sassy green and yellow autographed #10 Nate McMillan basketball shorts (and they are short), and proudly say “I AM STILL A FAN”!
